Our Board Members

Hummingbird Hawk Moth

Moth joined Kilter’s Board of Directors in 2022, when Kilter began to recommend to researchers in universities that they should invite partners from the natural world to join their research teams - to broaden their perspectives and intensify their focus on ecological sustainability.

Moth co-wrote and performed with Kilter on The Illuminating Times of the Darkling Society. She stands as a totem to outsiders, but also a survivor from a bygone era of great biodiversity. She says “there was a time not so long ago when the beams from your headlights on a country road would be thick with the wings of insects”.

Beauty of Bath Apple Tree

Apple Tree joined Kilter’s Board of Directors in 2022, when Kilter began recommending to researchers in universities that they should invited partners from the natural world to join their research teams.

Kilter has worked with Apple Tree in a number of allotments and community farms across the region - most notably as a performer in our Wassailing Rituals. She has also appeared on housing estates and canal paths. Apple Tree believes strongly that Kilter should feed our audiences’ stomachs as well as brains. She says “we all have a responsibility in the food web; how we can raise food responsibly, organically, seasonally and with local distinctiveness.” She is our oldest and wisest board member… with the possible exception of Mark!

Mark Bishop

Mark Bishop is one of the most highly networked humans on the Bath theatre scene! He is a Teaching Fellow at Bath Spa University, teaching Applied Theatre and Theatre & Social Engagement. He is Participation Manager at the Natural Theatre Company, where he has performed for 100s of years and organises numerous Community Engagement Projects. He is Director of the inimitable Big State Ltd, and is a founder of the Camera Chica project for the British Council, setting up film projects with young people in Cuba, Nepal, Rwanda and Egypt. If you don't know him now, it's only a matter of time.

Lucy Heard

Lucy Heard is an outdoor arts producer, fixer, maker and Radical Admin. During the pandemic she co-produced Coddywomple, an experiment in socially distanced carnival. She currently produces entertainment at events and festivals across the UK, and is a founder member of Radical Admin Collective, a group of arts administrators finding ways to be recognised for the work they do behind the scenes.

Lucy ensures that access is built into the work she produces. She is a trained audio describer for events and has a particular interest in participatory arts to enhance wellbeing.
