Dust to Data

Have you ever imagined living forever? What about living forever, digitally?

In Spring 2023, we were commissioned by the Universities of Bath and Bristol to facilitate a three-day creative challenge with twenty researchers in cyber-security. The subject: the burgeoning post-life digital industry.

The researchers were first exposed to our eVRafter design fictions (developed in 2022) and then, after lengthy analysis, nurtured to create four separate scenarios and characters that spoke to them from the future.

Each group worked with a Kilter actor across the three days, who embodied the characters created. Then we took the actors & the scripts and made 4 short films, which premiered at Bath Film Festival in 2023 & went on to the Watershed, Bristol.

Illustrator Sam Church joined us in the room for the duration of the challenge and created some great graphic representations of the 3-days intensive. You can see all of the illustrations below.
